A commercially-focused eCommerce consultancy, established in 2018.

I work with independent eCommerce brands – typically in the £500k-£5m revenue range – across fashion, accessories, homeware and food & beverage.

Since founding That Nerd in 2018, I’ve supported brands through launches, growth, replatforms and operational improvements – often stepping in where structure, reporting and commercial clarity are missing.

My role is rarely narrow. I work at the intersection of growth, finance, UX and tech, because in eCommerce, everything is connected. Scaling paid social affects inventory. Inventory affects cashflow. Cashflow affects growth. Growth exposes operational weaknesses.

If you don’t understand the whole picture, things break.

How can I help?

eCommerce retained consultancy

Ongoing strategic support across data, paid social, UX and web development. Typically 1–4 days per month for brands ready to scale sustainably.

eCommerce website development

Bespoke Shopify or WooCommerce builds, optimised for high-converting, engaging eCommerce. Full replatforms and UX design available.

Paid social strategy & training

Creative testing frameworks, live reporting and profitable growth planning – with or without ad account management.

Brochure website design

Structured, bespoke WordPress websites for service-based business, to help you gain more customers.

How I think…

Most eCommerce businesses don’t yet have the foundations for growth.

I regularly see:

  • No financial modelling
  • No view of margins, cost per acquisition or contribution (CM3)
  • No reporting beyond platform dashboards
  • No clear understanding of the customer
  • No structured creative production & testing
  • No stock planning linked to demand
  • No internal processes for marketing or measurable growth

Businesses end up solving the wrong problems:

“How do we increase ROAS from 10x to 12x?”

Instead of: “How do we grow profit 3x over the next two years?”

eCommerce is not a dark art. It’s trackable, forecastable, manageable.

But, that requires…

  • Structure
  • Common sense
  • Commercial awareness
  • Clean reporting
  • Tidy bookkeeping
  • Focused platform strategy
  • Cohesive creative
  • And a willingness to do fewer things, better

My approach

“Common sense and a spreadsheet”

I’m not just a developer to code up a design, a Meta ads manager to push the buttons, or a business coach to tell you to post more videos on Instagram.

I’m a commercial, pragmatic consultant who understands that growth, UX, paid media, inventory, cashflow and systems are interdependent.

That means:

  • Strategy is built bottom-up from margin
  • Creative testing has a framework
  • Reporting sits outside platform bias (and tells you what actually matters!)
  • Operational processes support marketing decisions
  • Solutions are built to last (and actually work for your team and capacity)

My strength lies in turning disorganisation into clarity. Making complex systems simple, effective and free from friction.

Working together

I work best with committed founders or senior leaders – people who are invested in their business and prepared to make decisions.

For consultancy work, I’m typically office-based across London, working 1-4 days per month per client. Projects such as website builds or modelling can be delivered remotely, with in-person discovery or training sessions where appropriate.

I cap the number of clients I work with to ensure focus. I generally take on one major project at a time, alongside a small number of retained consultancy clients.
